About the Detective role
In Mafia Online, the Detective is one of the town's most important special roles. Each night they check one player and get a precise answer: mafia or innocent. That information can change the course of an entire game — if used correctly.
The Detective's job
- Check one player each night and learn their role.
- Deliver the gathered information to the town at the right time, in the right way.
- Stay hidden from the mafia — since they are the mafia's first target.
- Coordinate, even unknowingly, with the doctor to strengthen the town's defence.
Strengths
- Holds precise information — works from a real answer, not a guess.
- Revealed at the right moment, can rally the entire town.
- The mafia's greatest fear — able to expose them one by one.
Weaknesses
- The mafia's first target — they try to identify the Detective as fast as possible.
- If revealed too early, they die the very next night.
- Someone may falsely claim their role (a 'counter-claim'), which confuses the town.
Strategy for the Detective
- Don't reveal the results of the first 1-2 nights right away — observe and gather proof.
- Don't name a mafia suspect immediately — build a logical case first.
- If you feel at risk, pass the information to a trusted player privately.
- If counter-claimed, stay calm — persuade with evidence, not emotion.
