The 13 Mafia Roles Explained: From the Don to the Maniac

In mafia, who you are is your fate. A single word on a small card decides how you play the entire game. Mafia Online has 13 unique roles, and they fall into three teams: the mafia, the town and the neutrals.

The mafia team

Few in number but the most dangerous force, acting together at night.

• Don — the head of the mafia. At night, with the family, he picks the victim and carries out the sentence. Even when investigated, he often appears 'innocent'.
• Mafia — a regular family member. If the Don dies, takes his place. The main job is to blend into the town and shift suspicion onto others.

The town team

The majority, but 'blind' — they do not know who is friend or foe. Their strength is unity and logic.

• Detective (Commissioner Catani) — the town's main protector. At night investigates or kills a player.
• Sergeant — knows the detective's checks; if the detective dies, takes over.
• Doctor — saves one player from attack each night, and can save himself once.
• Lawyer — protects a client: the detective sees them as 'innocent'.
• Tramp — wanders the town all night and sees who visited whom.
• Lucky — has a 50% chance to survive an attack.
• Kamikaze — if lynched, takes another player down with him.
• Mistress — distracts any player for one night.
• Townsperson — no ability, but strong through vote and logic.

The neutral forces

No one's friend — plays only for themselves and tips the balance of the game.

• Maniac — kills one player each night. The goal is to wipe out everyone and win alone.
• Suicide — wins only if lynched during the day. Die at night, and they lose.

Which role is for you?

Love cold blood and deception — mafia or maniac is yours. Love logic and analysis — the detective or the tramp. Want to protect others — the doctor. The best part is that your role changes every game, so there is no room for boredom.
